Hundred Miles from Reality

Back in 2001, I got to realize a goal of mine ever since I started singing and writing songs.  I went into a studio to record my own album.  It was a lot of fun because my brother Dave came along to help sing and play guitar and to give me a reality check on whether my songs sounded okay.

I recorded 10 songs that day and put it on my album which I called Hundred Miles from Reality.  Becky helped me with the cover picture and then I had a concert at my church a couple months later to try to sell some albums.  I sold about 50 in total, which I believe qualifies the album for the Construction Paper Record (a little less than Gold, Silver of Platinum).

Here’s a link to the 10 songs I put on my album – these songs were written as early as 1994 (The World Revolves) to just before I recorded the album (Let Our Love Survive and Coming Around Again).

I’ve sung Simple Pleasures and Only a Dream before in church, and the songs I typically sing for people when they find out I can play are Driving …. and In So Deep.  In So Deep is the one most people have said is their favorite.  Let me know at ericnewell1@hotmail.com if there’s one you like.

By the way – I was finally able to post these songs because anyone can get 1 GB of free space on the Internet at www.box.net.  It’s a pretty cool deal.
