Katie’s Reading Program

Katie’s kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Messer, held a year end Reading Program in her class last Thursday.  She invited all the parents in to see what they’d been working on this year.  She started out by showing what animal each kid is like.  Everyone chose an animal except for Katie – she said she would be like Mrs. Messer because she likes to teach.  They sang some songs – Fifi Fish was the best.

For the "reading" part, 3-5 kids would come up to the front of the room and read a little bit.  Katie got to take part in the George Washington reading and the Flower Parts section.  She then got to read "What Bugs Me" – a series where everyone in their class said the things that bug them.

At the end, they finished up with a song Katie had been singing for a while – to the tune of "New York, New York" they sing "First Grade, First Grade":

We ran out of space on our video card, so it’s just a clip of "First Grade, First Grade".

It was a fun idea to have a program for the kids to show off what they learned.
