We were really never too concerned about Katie starting school last week. We knew she’d love it, and she does. She’s almost done with two weeks and she’s having fun every day. She even received the Gumball Award last week for being the best rester. She’s keeping up with everything and having fun playing on the playground with her best friend Jalynn at lunch.Amelia started preschool on Tuesday, and we were wondering how she’d do. She is good at playing by herself, but she likes to be with Katie, so we were worried that she’d have a tough time staying at preschool. Apparently we talked it up enough that she was excited enough to give it a shot. When we dropped her off, we helped her find a table that she enjoyed – playing with puzzles. Once she got into that she was happy and had no problems. We were thrilled. Becky came back to get her after the end and she was pretty happy with her time there. She asked if she could go see Katie, but when Becky said no, she got pretty sad.
Today was Amelia’s first trip on the bus. She’s been talking about taking the bus to preschool now for 6 months, so today was her big day. She enjoyed the bus ride and got to sit by Katie and her friend Josie. With Katie’s help, she was able to get off the bus at preschool and had fun at class. They have a Dora book there, so she talks about how she likes that. We asked a friend to take her back to day care after preschool, and were pretty nervous about that, but she made it back just fine.
She’s been very courageous and is doing great – she especially likes how she gets to hang out with the bigger kids (preschool group) at day care. That means she gets to play outside with Katie’s group.
It’s amazing we have two girls at school, but we’re pretty excited that they’ve been doing great.
