Ancestry: Laban Waterman

Laban is not a relative, but it is on his farm where Layton Newell most likely grew up, and he met his wife Marcy Winsor there.  About the only reference we have to Layton’s being in Rhode Island is the reference in Laban’s will.  He also had an infant son named Benoni which is where Layton and Marcy got the name.  It is likely Layton was living there in 1790 during the census as at that time it listed the males living there in total whether they were blood or not.
