It seems like forever ago when Amelia used the potty for the first time in the library. About three weeks ago, she finally turned the corner on potty training. The teachers at day care have been extremely helpful and their continued insistence has made all the difference. Amelia now (finally) willingly goes potty – even without prompting. She can even hold it better than Katie, so she does pretty well in the car.
Speaking of the car, Amelia’s become much more fun to travel with now that she can sleep in the car and keep herself occupied with movies. She even likes to participate with Katie and me in our games. We play – I Spy Something with My Eyes, I’m Thinking of …, and Amelia’s favorite, Who Can Make the Most Annoying Sound. In the last game, she likes to be the judge. Katie and I (and sometimes Becky) make an annoying noise and Amelia judges who the winner is. She picks Katie every time, so Katie loves this game.
We signed Amelia up for Junior Preschool next year and one of the requirements was that she be potty-trained before attending class. I checked the "Yes" box purely on faith that she’d figure it out by September, but fortunately it took less than a week after that before she was good to go. It should be interesting to see how she takes to preschool next year – will be a good chance for her to start coloring more and learning the alphabet.
