Disney Day 1

I’m back to add a little more detail to the entries:

We flew down on Allegiant Airlines – the first time we’d experienced them.  The flight was very no-frills, but that was okay.  The plane left a little late, so we didn’t get there until 5 or so.  We rented a car (Kia Amanti) and headed out on the toll road.  We needed to stop for dinner soon at McDonalds and decided to take the roads through the city to see a little of downtown.  We made it to our hotel about 7:15 or so.  The Animal Kingdom Lodge is very cool – you come in on the 3rd floor and look up at the African themed lobby to see the top two floors.  We were on the second floor, and the first floor actually doesn’t have any rooms in most wings.  It’s empty so the animals in the savanna can roam as close as possible to the rooms.  Also, the whole hotel is very dark at night so the animals can feel at home in the environment.  It’s pretty cool to look out and see zebras, giraffes, water buffalo, ostriches, some kind of storks.

The girls and I went for a swim – the pool there was very large.  It was all about 3-4 feet deep so Katie could make her way through the most of the pool.  We all checked out the hot tub afterward and hit the hay pretty early.

Original Entry
we made it down safely – our flight was late taking off and arriving, but that’s easily forgotten when it’s 73 outside. Our hotel, the Animal Kingdom Lodge, is quite cool – we went for a swim in the huge pool an even saw some zebras and water buffalo. On to Hollywood Studios tomorrow.
