Birthday Doctor Visits

We scheduled our annual doctor visits for the girls this week and got to see how they were doing.  The girls are both very healthy and for that we are very thankful.  Katie is just shy of 44" tall and weighs about 43 lbs.  Since we’re going to Disney World in a few weeks, I wanted to see how tall she was so I know what cool rides I can drag her along on.  She’s in the 80% of height (I would’ve assumed more) and 75% for weight.  Amelia checks in at 35 3/4 inches tall and just over 30 pounds.  She’s in the 25% for height and 50% for weight.  She’s also in the 85% of head size.

Katie ended up having to get 4 shots (should’ve been 5 – we have to go back for one they forgot to give us) and Amelia got one.  Katie is very dramatic, so she cried for the few minutes before the nurse came in while Amelia didn’t care.  She didn’t even seem to notice she got the shot.  Katie didn’t really feel the shots either and neither cried at all after they got them.  At least at the doctor’s office.  That day we headed back to get to Katie’s Dance Class at 3:30 and headed to my dad’s basketball team’s game that night at 5:45.  Katie was fine during all of this, although she did act out a leg injury at dance class so I would take off her boots.  When we got back home and put their pjs on – that’s when the Golden Globe winning performance came out.  Katie sobbed her head off as she remembered the four shots she got earlier that day (dang bandaids).  She was crying so hard I couldn’t help but laugh.  Here’s someone who had been fine all day and didn’t even really notice the shots, but couldn’t move her legs once she remembered she got them.  She was getting mad at me for laughing, but I just couldn’t stop.

In other news, Katie’s big birthday party is coming up Sunday, and she can’t wait.  Apparently it’s a big deal to turn 5.  She invited all of her classmates from school over and her friend Tessa.  I hope we have enough to entertain them for 4 hours – but I’m sure they’ll play dress up for a long enough time that they’ll have lots of fun.

Becky’s been in Pennsylvania this week and has gotten to avoid the -31 degree weather we’ve had this week.  It should be interesting when she tries to start her car at the airport just as I’m finishing up this post.
