On the last blog entry’s theme of TV shows, I’d be remiss if I didn’t talk about Becky’s favorite shows. She loves just about everything on Bravo. One time when I looked at Dish network channels, she said any package without Bravo would get vetoed by her. Her favorite shows of all are Top Chef and Project Runway.
Top Chef recently ended its fourth season and it was Becky’s favorite season yet. The premise of Top Chef is that 16 or so chefs compete each week in two challenges – a quickfire – some quick cooking competition where they have like 30 minutes to finish a dish where the winner wins immunity from explusion after the main competition – and the main challenge where they have to work as a team or come up with some elaborate dish for a new scenario. On this season they had to cook with kids one time, make a healthy meal for firemen, cater a wedding and cook for a famous steakhouse. Becky loves the competitive aspect of it and all she’s learned about food. On the rare occasions we have time now, she’s put her culinary learnings into practice, so that’s good for me.
Her favorite thing about this season was that her favorite contestant won. When I came upstairs after the show was over (she told me I couldn’t talk to her between 9-10), she was beaming because Stephanie had pulled off the victory.
Project Runway is her favorite show in the world. It’s pretty much the same premise as Top Chef except with fashion design. The show hasn’t been on for about six months but it’s starting up again next month, so her Wednesday evenings will be booked. She loves the combination of creativity and competition displayed in the challenges. She’s not a high-fashion person herself, but she loves to see what people can come up with in a short time frame with only their imagination.
Anyway, in case anyone cares what’s on our TVs in the house, it’s Dora for Amelia, the Doodlebops or another animated show for Katie, the Twins for me, and just about anything on Bravo for Becky.
