For my mom’s 39th birthday for the 21st time, our family celebrated by going back to the Thumper Pond Waterpark we went to last year in February (here’s that story: http://enewell.spaces.live.com/blog/cns!444015D56683B8E9!314.entry). Last year, Katie had a good time, but took it fairly easy and Amelia was scared pretty much the whole time.
This year was a much better experience. Katie took it up a notch by using her lifejacket (so we can be safe) to swim by herself in the 4 foot pool. She was so excited she had to holler to grandma and grandpa all the way across the pool. She didn’t want to leave after 2 hours in the pool, and then after supper, she begged me to head back down for some more fun. She had a great time just playing and splashing. Amelia also had a great time – she was tentative for about 1 minute until she decided to go for it this year. She had so much fun sliding down the little 3 ft slide, and crawling through the water. She thought the lazy river was okay, but she loved the kiddie pool where she and Katie could splash with Parker. She even went in the 4 ft pool and swam around with Becky and me. She didn’t want to get out either, but she couldn’t make round 2 of swimming because she was so wiped out from the first go ’round.
It was a great weekend getaway to spend time with my whole family in a place the kids could really enjoy. We just hung out and watched basketball that night, but it’s always a good and relaxing time when you can spend it with family. That was all my mom wanted for her birthday and she was happy to have us all together. I think it was a great birthday for all of us.
