A Good Doctor’s Visit

Today was Amelia’s 2 year check-up.  Going to the doctor has been frequent and not fun for Amelia up to this point, but that changed for the better today.  First, we got her measurements – 27.6 pounds and 32 3/4 inches tall which puts her in the 20% for height and the 60% for weight.  She’s in the 75% for head size too, so she’s a little top-heavy.  Her gut is starting to worry me a little – she definitely has a beer belly, and I’m pretty sure she hasn’t had much beer.  I figured eating her weight every two days would catch up to her at some point.

Anyway – the good news was that her speech is fine.  I’ve been a little worried since he hasn’t been making words.  The doctor says it’s fine, she knows when to talk and is trying to say the right things and she’s putting two or three words together.  She’s been saying things like "There it is" or "Where’s Katie" for a while now.  The doctor said since she’s the second child, she doesn’t have to say as much – she can point and grunt and get what she wants.  She definitely gets what she wants, so it must be working for her.

The other good news is that her left ear which has been giving her trouble looks fine.  There is a little pink in the ear, but nothing that would cause a problem.  So her hearing is fine and she shouldn’t as susceptible to ear infections.  Everything else looks good too.  She got her Hep A and Flu shots, so hopefully that keeps her from getting sick as often.

It was just a very good day to hear she’s doing well.  I haven’t been outwardly worrying about her too much, but I definitely feel better knowing she’s doing just fine.
