Katie’s birthday is coming up soon, and it’s starting to dawn on me that she’s growing up. She’s going to preschool and Sunday school and all that, but now that she’s actually gaining a year on her age, it seems like time is going by fast. It’s amazing she’s grown from a 7 pound baby to a nearly 4 foot girl who can properly use the word "ingredients" in a sentence.
She has learned so much this year. She can write her name now and most all the letters of the alphabet. She can still sing any song that you repeat for her two times, and she can do things by herself – color, dress, go to the bathroom, etc. Before she goes to bed each night, I read her a couple books – usually Dora. Before that, we do a few different things – tonight we played Chutes and Ladders and Candyland, some nights we practice typing, some nights we color and other nights we just watch Dora or Shrek on daddy’s computer. During all these events, she always has questions and she just wants to talk. She asks me about everything and speculates about her next move in Chutes and Ladders like she’s Chris Berman before a playoff football game.
I realize one of these days she’s going to get older and become a teenager and it probably won’t be cool to talk to daddy anymore. When I look back, I just want to remember these days when she talks non-stop, and remember how much fun it’s been.
