Katie’s Halloween Night

We had a lot planned for the girls last night (mostly Katie) to celebrate Halloween, and here’s a quick run down:

5:10 Picked the girls up from Day Care – they had a good day except for Amelia bit someone again
5:20 Got home and decided to go with a supper of yogurt, cheese and strawberries so we could eat quickly and get out trick-or-treating
5:30 Katie dilly-dallied as per usual so we had to continually negotiate with her that she needs to eat otherwise she can’t go out
5:40 We finally finished eating, so we had to get Katie’s costume back on so we could head out
5:50 Headed out trick-or-treating, stopped at her friend Kaitlyn’s house and then Josie’s house
6:00 Headed towards Brandi’s house and saw her friends Mya and Jalynn out walking.  Amelia started crying so she and I stayed home
6:10 Went to her friend Tessa’s house and stopped at the neighbor Ryland too
6:20 Went to her friend Molly’s house.  Stopped at Molly’s neighbors and there was a older kid wearing a ugly dog mask who answered the door.  Katie starting backing up off the steps to get away.  Amelia and I got our first trick-or-treaters (Tessa and family) at our house.
6:30 Katie headed back home so we could go to the Elementary School where the VFW was putting on a party
6:40 Got to the school and signed up for door prizes.  Started walking around to each of the "fun" stations set up in the gym
6:50 Started at a station where you had to putt a golf ball under 6 different hoops.  Got a bracelet for her efforts
7:00 Went to more stations, picked a duck out of water until she found one with a star and won a prize.  Threw a bean bag into a clown’s mouth
7:10 Played "scary" bingo with candy corn to cover up the spaces.  Had funm but didn’t win, still got to keep her candy corn
7:20 Spent about 15 minutes at the next station coloring and putting stickers on a little pumpkin gourd
7:30 Did some more putting and wrapped up at the school.
7:40 Got home – wanted to know if any of her friends came by while she was out.  Drove by another neighborhood in town that was packed with kids.
7:50 Ate another piece of candy and showed off all her wares to Mom and Amelia
8:00 Wanted to watch Shrek videos on the computer, so I set her up on YouTube
8:10 Molly and her family plus her friend Noah and his family came over.  We gave them the nickel tour of the house while Katie watched YouTube.  They were impressed with her ability to navigate the Internet
8:20 Friends left – time to put Amelia to bed
8:30 Finished watching Shrek stuff on the computer
8:40 More neighbors came by – our last visitors of the night
8:50 Ate some fruit snacks and headed to bed
9:00 Got changed and read two stories – Butterfly and a book about Hoppity and his first Thunderstorm
9:10 I left the room to have her go to sleep, although with all that sugar, I knew it wasn’t going to happen soon
9:20 Katie comes into our room and asks us to sleep with her and rub her back – I tell her I’ll come over in a while
9:30 I go to her room to find she’s taken all her sheets off the bed and is starting to jump on the bed.  I put her sheets back on the bed and put her back in bed.  Then I rub her back for a minute and then sit in the hallway to do my back exercises
9:40 I get up, but she’s still awake
9:50 I think she finally went to sleep

I’ve never really been someone who’s energy level has been affected by candy or caffeine, so I don’t always believe it’s going to affect other people so much.  However, Katie had 3-4 pieces of candy last night, and it definitely affected her.  That was one wired girl when it was time to go to sleep.  I’m just amazed she wasn’t super grumpy when she woke up this morning.
