Thanks to everyone who has been praying for us and Amelia – she’s doing well now. She’s starting to get over her sinus and ear infections and she’s getting back to normal. I can tell this because she ate two brauts, a hot dog bun, a bowl of applesauce, some stars and a box of raisins for supper.
We’re taking here in to see her pediatrician tomorrow so we’ll get a chance to see if there’s anything else we need to watch for. It’s been interesting hearing about other people who’ve had this happen to their kids or someone they knew. As far as I’ve heard, everyone made it through it and it’s much scarier than it is dangerous. The home care instructions even say you shouldn’t need to call 911 or a doctor during a seizure – just wait it out. I don’t see how anyone could just wait it out though – we won’t be doing that. The peak time to have a febrile seizure is between 8 and 20 months, so hopefully she can make it out of that window without any recurrences.
The weather’s really been nice the last few days, so we grilled out for the first time tonight. I ran out of propane, but at least it was after Amelia’s food was done, so no harm done. We’re trying to find some patio furniture for our big, new patio in back, but we just can’t find anything we like. We haven’t searched too hard yet, so hopefully we’ll find something so grilling out can be a common event this summer.
Katie climbed to the top of the little climbing wall/play-unit thingy on Sunday, so she was pretty proud of her accomplishment. She’s been trying to do that since we moved into the house. She just seems more grown-up now with the way she handled everything over the weekend – she gave us no trouble going to Uggie’s house and she went with grandma and grandpa willingly to their house for the night and had a lot of fun. I had to go to Chicago for work this week, and she’s still enough of a kid that when I got home last night about 8:15 she came running out to meet me as I got out of the car. Hopefully that lasts forever.
