Changing the dialogue

It’s been a little while since I’ve made time for an entry.  One new thing in our world is that Amelia has decided to speak up.  We’ve kept her Nuk out of her mouth more often now, and the outcome has been a lot of talking.  It’s goo-goo this and ga-ga that.  She really likes to repeat noises that we make to her.  Her eyes light up every time she talks, so it’s fun to see her take this step.  She’s still eating like crazy, but it’s starting to show – her slim tummy is now going the other direction.

I need to make a change in my dialogue with Katie.  I’ve fallen into the habit of repeating her mistaken pronunciations.  Here are a few examples – when she means to say a "j" she says "sch" – her friend Jett is Schett in my favorite is when she tries to say Baby Jaguar (from Diego) and she says Baby Schaguar.  Instead of saying there are no spots, she says "there are no any spots".  I like to copy that too.  She calls Amelia "Amia" but that’s pretty cute and she probably needs a shortened name anyway.

Another one of my favorites is when she tries to say Blue’s Clues and it comes out "Booze Cruise".

Katie’s speech is really good for her age, she seems to be ahead of similar kids in her age group in her vocabulary and clarity of speech.  So we should probably help her cause by enunciating the words she has problems with a little more.
