It’s been a while since I did a thorough report on Katie, but she’s been making a lot of progress lately. She has really figured out the potty thing – she hasn’t had an accident in over a month. We still put a diaper on her at night – we tried going without, but that’s not working yet. She’s even gotten better about faking when she has to go to the bathroom – she used to pretend to have to go to the bathroom when she was bored just because she knew we wouldn’t call her bluff.
She really likes to role play now. Tonight she decided that she was daddy and I was Katie. She told me I had to read the books to her before we go to bed – her mini Winnie the Pooh books that she has been reading to me. After I finished each book, she gave me five to congratulate me on reading the book. She just picks up so much.
We got some new games from our friends last night for their birthdays. Katie got the paper out of the game and started reading the directions. She told me what I needed to do based on the directions. I don’t even read directions.
My new year’s resolution was to help her go to bed easier, and she’s made good progress there. She will sometimes come into our room after she’s put to bed (like tonight) but I no longer have to sleep in the hallway for 20 minutes after I put her to bed. She’s gotten good about playing by herself in her room the nights she’s not immediately tired.
