It’s been a really long week. You can tell our weeks are getting long when Becky and I say to each other – it’s only Tuesday night? Friday night always seems so far away. I’m making my list of the week’s good, bad and busy, in reverse order:
Busy
1) Super Bowl – two parties in one night – we stayed pretty busy with the girls melting down and getting sick
2) Appointments – Becky had her hair done and I had my back done – it just takes up time
3) Hong Kong meeting – on Thursday night I had a meeting from 9-10:15 for work – it just made for a long day
4) Friday night girls basketball – we saw our first girls BB game tonight which was a good time – Katie & Amelia really enjoyed the band
Bad
1) Katie ran a high fever on Monday morning so I had to come home from work to take care of her. She had no energy and slept for 4 hours – plus she had a bad cough. Becky stayed home Tuesday since both the kids were under the weather.
2) Amelia has not been feeling well this week either and she’s been as cranky as possible. On Wednesday morning she woke up at about 5:15 and cried for the entire time until we took her to daycare.
3) Last night Katie was up and crying from 12:45-1:40, then from 2:50 to 3:30 and then she got up again sometime after that. We couldn’t get her to stay in her bed and go to sleep.
4) On Tuesday, while presenting in front of 15-20 of my coworkers, my computer monitor went bezerk about 30 minutes into a 2 hour presentation I wasn’t really that ready for anyway. It was a very long 2 hours.
5) I went the week without Tab. I can’t let that happen again.
Good
1) Amelia turned 1 this week. She’s really been enjoying her mobility – she loves to crawl after us around the kitchen. She’s starting to pull herself up on to her feet when she climbs on me.
2) I got my new glasses this week. It’s been 12 years since I updated my glasses, and I was badly in need. It’s nice not to be embarassed to wear glasses.
3) This morning our heating guy was over to hopefully help fix the unreliability of our very expensive furnace. It’s early yet, but it would nice if those issues were behind us.
4) The event actually occurred last week when I was filling out my health history prior to my eye doctor appointment – I realized how lucky my family has been when it comes to our health. I’ve never had any surgeries or even hospital stays, and my wife and girls have been very healthy as well.
When I have a mostly bad week, I just need to think how I blessed I’ve been. I really have nothing to complain about – even though I sometimes do.
