Party Party

Katie’s long awaited birthday happened this week.  I was recalling today that she’s been talking about her 3rd birthday since my birthday back in October.  It seems the event lived up to the hype.  We had her friends Mya and Jalynn over on her birthday night to hang out.  Then today we had all the relatives over for a double birthday party for her and Amelia.  Unfortunately, the population of the party was reduced because of several illness – Zach, Grandma Becky, Parker & Kari and the Uggerud’s couldn’t make it due to various illnesses.  It still seemed like a full house with Somer, Heather & Noah, Tina & Taydon and Nola plus my direct family here.  We had a lot of fun and the time seemed to fly by.

Because we don’t get enough Dora otherwise, we decided to do a Dora themed party.  We had a Dora tablecloth, plates, napkins, party hats and even some crayons to play with as well.  We got cakes for both girls – a purple cake for Katie and a pink cake for Amelia.  Amelia got to eat cake for the first time, and she went to town on her piece.  I didn’t expect her to eat that much since she’d just eaten Sweet Potatoes and Corn plus some strawberry stars, but she ate her whole piece of cake.

Katie got lots of clothes along with some fun toys.  Her favorite seemed to be a big set of play-doh.  She also got a big desk for her room that I’m sure will take me 2 hours to put together.  She and her cousin Noah are playing pretty well together now and they enjoyed playing in the gigantic jumpelene she got for Christmas.

Amelia got some more toys of her own – which is good because she’s getting to the age where she’s starting to enjoy them.  She seemed to like riding on her Dora car and playing with a big turtle.  She’s getting to the age where you can start to see her personality shine through – she’s also figured out how to ask to be picked up.

We have some special girls and it was fun to see them have such a fun day.
