OK, I’m going to take the bold move of trying to write down my goals for this year. It might even be just the first half of the year, since I can’t really think more than 6 months in advance. Hopefully by writing them down I will have some incentive to do complete them.
1) Work out – if I get the opportunity to work from home, there’s really no excuse for me not to work out. I would really like to get into good enough shape I could play basketball without automatically regretting it the next day. Plus, it should help me make less trips to see my friend the chiropractor.
2) Work with Katie on two things a) getting her to stay in her bed at night. She has a tendency to join us in bed at some time during the night and then no one sleeps well after that and b) controlling her meltdowns. She’s had a number of 5-10 minute meltdowns where she cries over something stupid. She averages one a day, but it’s fresh in my mind today since she had about 4 tonight. I need to react more quickly and try to keep her from doing it.
3) Work with Amelia on her walking – right now her legs are like jello, so she’s got a long way to go before she gets there. I’d like to make sure I’m spending 10-15 minutes a night watching her as she stands up so she gets more and more used to it. She’s been crying a lot lately and I think it’s mostly due to the fact that she’s not mobile. She crawled tonight for the first time – at least more than one step. Hopefully she can progress in the next week so she’s not so frustrated by her lack of mobility.
4) Take my wife on a cruise – she’s been wanting to do this forever, and it’s always nice to have some time to ourselves sometime during the year.
5) Buy some land – I’ve been talking about this for long enough, and it’s about time I buy some land somewhere.
6) Keep writing my blog – once a week isn’t too much to ask. Now that I’ve done this for a while I’m starting to note events as blog-worthy, so I must be getting into it.
I’m sure there will be more, but I think those are the main ones. I’ll have to remember to look back mid-year to see how I’ve done.
