Becky’s First Post

As this is my first post I figured I would start out talking about the act/art of blogging.  I’ve been reading Eric’s entries as soon as they come out, I read Jane’s blog from the radio show Chris, John and Jane and I routinely listen to Tim Gunn’s podcast from the tv show Project Runway.  All of them are very entertaining to me and I often find myself either laughing or crying based on the content.  People (at least Eric and Jane) seem to find it much easier to write their more touching thoughts than to say them and it is pretty powerful to read that stuff.  Tim Gunn’s is fascinating because he offers a lot of information and commentary on my favorite show that I don’t get to see in the show.  I think everyone should start writing down their thoughts in this kind of online journal.  I’d love to read about what my friends are thinking, what mundane things happened during the week, what they like or dislike about the world, whatever…I like reading all of it (especially while I’m bored at work).  If anybody has any other good blog sites let me know!

On to a different topic…I have a sister and a friend that are single (and not in college) and I feel bad for both of them.  I get the impression that everyone they know must work questions about their love live’s into normal conversations, myself included.  I’m not sure when people start to get panicked about not being married but it must be pretty soon after college because my sister is only 26.  Seriously no one asks Eric and I questions that are as personal as the ones these guys get everyday.  Also I’m pretty sure everyone they know tries to set them up with any single person they have ever known which just leads to all sorts of uncomfortable situations.

Personally I’m proud of them for sticking to their guns and really holding out for what they want, especially my sister.  When she was younger she seemed to be whatever her boyfriend wanted her to be (or at least that was my impression).  The single person that she is now is a lot stronger and much more interesting than the person she used to be.  I’m not sure how much misery she had to go thru to become who she is now but from my perspective it was worth it.  I hope they both keep holding out for what they want and me and everyone else should relax a little and enjoy who they are as single people.
